Samrat Prithviraj lays flat at the box office; present collection now stands at Rs.52 crores
Akshay Kumar’s latest release Samrat Prithviraj has turned out to be a disaster at the box office. Aside from Kumar, the film also stars Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Sakshi Tanwar, and others. Helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film has heavily disheartened its viewers following its poor collection at the BO.
Samrat Prithviraj hit the theatres on 3rd June. And it clashed with the big south film Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan, Fahad Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Suriya, and Adivi Sesh-led Major.
Breaking down the earnings of the film, Samrat collected Rs 10.70 crores making it the 3rd highest opener. On the 2nd day, Akshay Kumar starrer saw a hike as it earned Rs. 12.60 crores while collecting Rs. 16.10 crores, Rs. 5 crores, and Rs. 4.25 crores on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th day respectively. After the sixth day, the film surpassed the mark of Rs. 50 crores. However, since the film is mounted on a heavy scale, these collections are not exciting enough.
Clearly, Akshay Kumar fans are heavily disappointed with this one too, especially after Bachchhan Paandey. But there is still hope for his fans as he has Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan releasing next. Later, Akshay has Ram Setu, Mission Cinderella, OMG 2, and Selfiee in the pipeline.
