Made on a budget of little more than 30 crores, Pad Man collected Rs. 62.87 crores in its first week.

With Pad Man , Akshay Kumar has delivered yet another successful movie. Released last week, the social comedy-drama emerged as the clear winner at the box office. The movie was initially scheduled to clash with Neeraj Pandey ’s Aiyaary , but as the latter got postponed, Kumar’s film got a solo release. Pad Man ’s total pre and post-production cost was around 30 crores and with one week, the film managed to earn double of its cost. After 7 days at the box office, the film pocketed Rs. 62.87 crores at the domestic market and turned into a profitable venture within 1st week itself.

The film is based on the novel of Twinkle Khanna , which was actually based on the life of Tamil Nadu based social worker, Arunachalam Muruganantham. The movie is directed by R Balki and is jointly produced by Akshay’s wife, Twinkle and KriArj Entertainment.
The movie stars Akshay Kumar , Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in the lead and till date, the worldwide collection of the film has reached to Rs. 82.51 crores.
