Aftab Shivdasani Biography
The guy with the cute dimples Aftab Shivdasani is a well known actor who is attached to showbiz and cinema since his babyhood. Aftab was born on 25th June 1978 in Mumbai. His parents are Prem Shivdasani and Putli Shivdasani. His father is a Hindi, while his mother is Parsi. He has a sister who is older to him. His sister's name is Afsana. Aftab did his schooling from St. Xaviers High School in Mumbai. Aftab went to H. R. College for his graduation.
Aftab started to face the camera since he was 14 months old. He was a Farex baby when he was just 14 months old. Later he appeared in many Television commercials. His first film as a child artist was 'Mr. India' in 1987. The movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur. Later he appeared as a child artist in many movies like 'Insaniyat' ,'Shahenshah' and 'Chaalbaaz'.
Till Aftab became 19 years old, he continued to appear in various commercial advertisements. It was then veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma selected him as a protagonist in Urmila Matondkar starer 'Mast'. He was still doing his graduation in commerce. The film turned out to be a major success of that year and Aftab's performance gained him accolades. In 2001, he was starred opposite beautiful model Lisa Ray in 'Kasoor'. The movie was directed by Vikram Bhatt. In this movie, Aftab played a negative role in this film of a man who kills his wife. This role gained him instant success and fame. His other releases in 2001 were 'Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega' which directed by E. Nivas. In this film, Aftab played a supporting role along with Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Twinkle Khanna and Sonali Bendre. The film could not do much at the box office despite Aftab's good performance in this film. In the same year, he was seen in another multistarer 'Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat' which was directed by Rajiv Rai. This film also got average reviews.
In 2002, Aftab appeared in the movies like 'Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe' and 'Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai'. Both the films failed at the box office. He was also a part of Rajkumar Kohli's multistarer super natural fantasy film 'Jaani Dushman'. This movie too went on to become a disaster. He was also seen in comic thriller 'Awara Paagal Deewana' which was helmed by Vikram Bhatt. The film was a huge success and received good reviews. In 2002, he was featured in another film named 'Pyaasa' which was directed by A. Muthu.
In 2003,the handsome actor was starred in an anthology film by Prawal Raman named ' Darna Mana Hai'. Aftab marked his screen presence in this multistarer film and gained critical acclaim. He was next seen in 'Hungama' where he was featured with Rimi Sen and Akshaye Khanna. Aftab was also starred in Vikram Bhatt's crime thriller 'Footpath' along with Bipasha Basu, Emraan Hashmi and Rahul Dev. The movie could not do well at the box office. In 2004, Aftab appeared in 'Muskaan' and 'Suno Sasurjee'. Both the films went unnoticed at the box office. Later he was seen in an adult comedy 'Masti' which was directed by Indra Kumar. He was starred along with Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh. The film got the tag of semi-hit. In 2004, he was seen Anupam Sinha's 'Shukriya' which again went unnoticed.
In the recent years, Aftab was seen in the films like 'Mr. Ya Miss', 'Koi Aap Sa' , 'Shaadi Se Pehle', 'Ankahee' ,'Darwaza Bandh Rakho' ,'Jaane Hoga Kya' ,'Nishabd' ,'Red - the dark side' ,'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee', 'Speed' ,'Dus Kahaniyaan' ,'De Taali' ,'Money Hain To Honey Hain' ,'Aloo Chaat' ,'Daddy Cool' ,'Kambakkht Ishq' ,'Acid Factory' ,'Aao Wish Karein' ,'Bin Bulaye Baraati' ,'Players', '1920 - Evil Returns'. In 2013, he will be seen in the sequel of 'Masti' which is titled as 'Grand Masti'.
Aftab has won the Zee Cine Award in the Best Male Debutant category for his film 'Mast' in 2000. For the same film he got the Star Screen Award for the Most Promising New Comer. In 2002, he received the Zee Cine Award for the Best Actor in Negative Role for 'Kasoor'. He also got nominated for the Filmfare Best Villain Award for the same.
