Akshaye Khanna Biography

Akshaye Khanna is an actor- star kid born to Vinod Khanna and Geetanjali. He was born on March 28, 1975 in Mumbai. He studied in Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute in Mumbai. He marked his Bollywood debut in the year 1997 with the film 'Himalay Putra', produced by his father Vinod Khanna. Although, this film went flat at box-office, he was accepted by the film industry with widened arms.

In same year of 1997, Akshay's next release was J. P. Dutta's 'Border'. This film earned him Filmfare Best Debut Award. His fame had outgrown by that point of time, yet he underwent a series of flops with 'Mohabbat', 'Kudrat', 'Laawaris' (1999), 'Love You Hamesha', 'Dahek' and 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen'. He was considered one-movie wonder, till Subhash Ghai's 'Taal' came his way. This film attained both critical as well as commercial success.

Year 2001, proved to be the turning point of his career, when Akshay featured in Farhan Akhtar's classic cult 'Dil Chahta Hai'. His performance garnered him Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in the year 2002. He stormed the theaters again with the thriller 'Humraaz', but this time turning villain for a change. After showcasing his lover-boy image and negative shades, he came up with comedy in the films like 'Hungama' (2003) and 'Hulchul' (2004) that became the box-office hits.

Akshaye's 'Shaadi Se Pehle', 'Aap Ki Khatir' (2006), 'Salaam-E-Ishq', 'Mere Baap Pehle Aap', 'Gandhi My Father' and 'Naqaab' generated lukewarm response at the box-office. Yet, his portrayal as Mahatma Gandhi's son, Harilal Gandhi is considered his career's best performance, till date. His negative role in Abbas Burmawalla and Mustan Burmawalla's thriller 'Race' has also earned him huge acknowledgment.

Akshaye was last seen in 'No Problem', 'Aakrosh' and 'Tees Maar Khan', which reportedly didn't fare well.
