Amisha Patel Biography

Vivacious and charismatic Amisha Patel is a well-known face of Indian Cinema. Amisha derives her name from father Amit and Mother Aasha. Ashmit Patel is her brother. The 37 years old actress is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.She studied economics at Tufts University,Medford. She comes from an academically bright family background and is the grand daughter of Lawyer Rajni Patel. After working as an economic analyst, the Gujarati girl returned India and joined Satyadev Dubey's theatre group to get some acting experience. Meanwhile, she also did commercials for 'Fair & lovely', 'Lux' and many other brands.

She debuted through the movie 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' in the year 2000 opposite Hrithik Roshan. Rakesh Roshan who was the school friend of her father roped her in, after the sudden departure of Kareena Kapoor from the movie. She got several Best Debutante awards for her role. Movie 'Gadar' was her next success. She won a Filmfare Special Performance Award for it. In 2002, Abbas-Mustan's 'Humraaz' did some very good business. She got a Fimlfare Best Actress nomination for it. But later, many of her movies bombed at the box office. She also appeared in Adnan Sami's Music Video in 2004. She got good feedback for her performance in 'Ankahee' released in 2006. Her movie 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd' was an average hit. In Priyadarshan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' she played an adopted child.The movie was a hit. Also, Amisha is one of those few actresses who have not been able to deliver to their full capacity .Or in other words, she did not got roles according to her forte. In between, she remained in news for dating Vikram Bhatt and for her prolonged fight with her family and many more issues. Amisha's latest Release is 'Race 2' directed by Abbas-Mustan. She will soon appear in 'Shortcut Romeo' starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, to be released on April 5, 2013.
