Ananth Nag is an an actor and politician.

Personal Details
He was born on July 7, 1948 to Anandi and Sadanand Nagarkatte. He is well versed with Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and also understands Telugu and Malayalam. And belongs to Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin (CSB) community.

Ananth terminated his education from Ananda Ashrama in Dakshina Kannada district and Chitrapura matha in Uttara Kannada. For further education he went to Mumbai but joined amateur Marathi theater and went forward for 8 years.

Movies:
Shyam Benegal gave him an entry in Bollywood with Ankur. And then appeared in a number of Shyam's movies. G. V. Iyer's Hamsageethe was his first Kannada film . Janma Janmada Anubandha, Gagana, Hamsageethe, Bayalu Daari, Naa ninna bidalaare, Mududida taavare Aralithu, Benkiya Bale are some of his other Kannada films.

Politics:
He contested for the Janata Dal (Secular ) election alongside Mukhyamantri Chandru from Bharatiya Janata Party and against Chief minister of Karnataka, S. M. Krishna.
