Archana Puran Singh Biography

Archana Puran Singh is a well-known television and film actress of Indian cinema. She was born on 26th September, 1962 in an upper-class Punjabi family of Dehradun. She completed her schooling in her home-town and at the tender age of 18, she headed towards Mumbai to explore her modeling career.

After a series of modeling assignments, she finally struck fame with her Band-Aid commercial, produced by Jalal Agha. He was the one, who perceived her acting potential and decided to launch her in the lead role in his serial, "Mr and Mrs". Her next big break was in Pankaj Parasher's television serial "Karamchand". Alongside, she continued to walk on ramp and participated in Miss India contest in the year 1986.

Archana made her Bollywood debut in the year 1987 with the film 'Jalwa', opposite Naseeruddin Shah. Although, the film was a hit, still she failed to grab the filmmakers' attention. Ambitious Archana didn't wait for a peculiar lead role to approach her, but went on to act even in the supporting roles that came her way. She had essayed some small but pertinent roles in the big banner films like 'Agneepath' (1990), 'Saudagar', 'Shola Aur Shabnam' and 'Aashiq Aawara'. She gained wide recognition from her vampish role of Karisma Kapoor's step-mother in the blockbuster 'Raja Hindustani', she is also vividly remembered as flirtatious professor Ms. Briganza of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'.

Coming to her television career, Archana has anchored a celebrity gossip show, "Kya Scene Hai" on ZEE TV. She was also the part of successful television shows like "Shriman Shrimati", "Uncensored" and "Junoon". She has been a persistent judge for the series of seasons of superhit show "Comedy Circus".

On 30th June 1992, Archana got married to the actor Parmeet Sethi and the couple has two sons, named Aaryamann and Ayushman.

Archana and Parmeet had together participated in a celebrity couple dance show, "Naach Baliye"- Season 1 and they have also hosted another reality dance show named, "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa"- Season 1. Some of her recent films are 'Krrish', 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!', 'De Dana Dan' and 'Bol Bachchan'. She will be next seen in upcoming 'Krrish 3'.
