The Dusky Beauty - Bipasha Basu is one of the most glamorous faces of Hindi Film Industry. She is epitomized as The Indian Beauty. Basu was born on 7th January 1979 to a Bengali family from Delhi. Her family moved to Kolkata when she was just eight. Basu was a tomboy since childhood and was referred to as 'Lady Goonda' by her school mates. Famous model Mehr Rampal spotted Basu at a hotel in Kolkata and advised her to take up modeling. After that in 1996, Basu won the 'Ford Supermodel' contest at the age of 17 and flew to New York where she gain multiple assignments.

She made her Debut in Acting through the movie 'Ajnabee' where she played a negative character. For it she won a Filmfare award for the Best Female Debut. Before 'Ajnabee' she was offered quite a few movies. She was offered 'Himalay Putra' by Vinod Khanna which she denied as she felt she was too young for the role. She was offered a film by J. P. Dutta which was abandoned later. In 2002 she appeared as a lead heroine in the movie 'Raaz' which made her the talk of the town. She has worked for Tamil, Telugu and Bengali movies also. List of her commercially hit movies include 'Jism', 'No Entry', 'Dhoom 2', 'Phir Hera Pheri', 'Race', 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. The movies for which she gathered critical acclaim were 'Apaharan', and 'Corporate'. 'Raaz 3' of 2011 helped her jump back after a dry spell of 2 years. But then her 2012 release 'Players' flopped at the box office.

This Bollywood bombshell has been renowned for the peppy item numbers such as 'Beedi Jalaile' and 'Namak Ishq ka' from the movie 'Omkara' and Lucky boy in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. She ended her 9 years relationship with John Abraham. Prior to that, she has also dated Dino Morea. She also launched a Fitness DVD named 'Love Yourself'. She was also the endorser for 'Sugar Free'. She would soon be seen in a horror flick 'Aatma' and an english movie 'Singularity'.
