Divya Bharti Biography

This Indian film actress was originally known as Divya Om Prakash Bharti. She was born on 25th February, 1974 in Mumbai and the actress breathed her last on 5th April, 1993. Although she lived a small period of life and got very less time for her career, she appeared in many successful Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films in early 1990s. Divya was born to insurance officer father Om Prakash Bharti and his second wife Meeta Bharti. She could speak Hindi, Marathi and English languages fluently. She completed her schooling from Maneckji Cooper High School, Juhu in Mumbai. The actress with doll-like looks was adored for her bubbly personality and passion to live life to the fullest.

The Telugu flick 'Bobbili Raja' was her very first movie in the year 1990. In 1992, she debuted in Hindi cinema with the film 'Vishwatma'. Her other films like 'Shola Aur Shabnam' opposite Govinda and 'Deewana' alongside Shah Rukh Khan received much commercial success. This role bagged her Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut in the same year. Between year 1992 and 1993, Divya Bharti featured in more than 14 movies. The filmmaker Nandu Tolani was the one, who noticed the spunk in Divya and offered her role in one of his movies. Divya was in ninth standard at that time. The Telugu films in which Divya featured were 'Assembly Rowdy', 'Naa Ille Naa Swargam', 'Rowdy Alludu', 'Dharma Kshetram', 'Chittamma Mogudu' and 'Tholi Muddhu'. 'Nila Penne' was her only Tamil film. Divya's Hindi films list include 'Balwan', 'Dil Ka Kya Kasoor', 'Dil Aashna Hai', 'Dil Hi To Hai', 'Rang', 'Kshatriya', 'Dushman Zamana', 'Geet' and 'Shatranj'.

Divya Bharti tied the knot as soon as she completed 18 years of her life. She got married to the filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala on May 10, 1992. She changed her name to Sana Nadiadwala after her marriage, but was popularly known as Divya Bharti in the film industry. On 5th April, 1993, the actress fell to death from a five-storey Tulsi apartment in Versova, Mumbai, which was her residence. It was an accidental death and shocked all people. Divya completed 80% shooting of the film 'Laadla' and after her death, Sridevi was recast for playing similar role. 'Shatranj' and 'Rang' were her last films, which were released after a long time after the actress's death. Both of these films were dedicated to her. Divya Bharti's portraits can be found in Iran even today along with Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi.
