Ekta Kapoor is an Indian TV and film producer. She is the Joint Managing Director and Creative Director of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, her own production company.
Born on 7th June, 1975. She did her schooling at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim and attended Mithibai College. She is the daughter of the veteran B-Town actor Jitendra and Shobha Kapoor. Her brother Tusshar Kapoor is a Bollywood actor as well.
She has produced numerous television series and Bollywood movies. She entered into Bollywood movie production in 2001 with the film, 'Kyo kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta' starring Govinda and Sushmita Sen. 'Kucch To Hai' (2003) and 'Krishna Cottage' (2004) both were based on super natural theme. 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum' starring Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh presented her production their first commercial success. She co-produced 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' with Sanjay Gupta. Later, she collaborated with Suniel Shetty to produce 'Mission Istaanbul' and 'Emi'. The years 2010 and 2011 proved to be important for her with critical and commercial successes such as 'Love, Sex Aur Dhoka', 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', 'Shor In The City', 'Ragini MMS', 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum', 'The Dirty Picture', 'Ek Thi Daayan', 'Shootout At Wadala' and 'Lootera'. Her upcoming productions include 'Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!', 'Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi', 'Ragini MMS - 2, 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects', 'Milan Talkies', 'Main Tera Hero', 'The Villain' and 'Badtameez Dil'.
