Feroz Khan Biography

Feroz Khan,the flamboyant, charismatic legendary star is the father of all style icons present in the industry. He is the man who introduced Indian Cinema to a multifaceted actor for the first time. His cow boyish flame and cigar smoking style made its own statement among the so called filmy heroes.

With his charismatic and unconventional style, he was also known as Clint Eastwood of the Industry; this was the same thing which turned this man into a Star overnight. Feroz Khan was born on 25th September 1939 in Bangalore, India. His father was an Afghan immigrant, where his mother was of Iranian background. Feroz Khan pursued his education at Bishop Cotton Boys' School, Bangalore and St. German High School, Bangalore.

Feroz Khan appeared in more than 50 films throughout the decades. He started his career as a second lead in a movie called 'Didi' in 1960. At the beginning in 1960s and 70s he made low budget thrillers but later on gave his first hit in 1965 with Phani Majumdar's 'Oonche Log' where the actor shared the screen with then biggies Raaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar; but the actor still managed to overcome from these biggies and gained notice with his brilliant acting. Later on Khan kept on acting in small budget films like 'Samson' and 'Char Darvesh' but significantly delivered his first hit the same year by portraying a sacrificing lover in musical hit 'Arzoo' starring Sadhana. This film opened the doors for Khan to enter the league of A- list in second lead, also gaining him the Filmfare for the best actor in supporting role.

Feroz Khan has five siblings Sanjay Khan (Abbas Khan), Shahrukh Shah Ali Khan, Sameer Khan, Akbar Khan(director) and a sister Dilshad Bibi. He also appeared along side with his real brother Sanjay Khan in films like 'Upasna' (1971), 'Mela' (1971) and 'Nagin' (1976) which turned out to be hit. He also delivered successful films like 'Khote Sikkey', 'Geeta Mera Naam', 'Pyasi Sham', 'Shanker Shambhu' and 'Safar'.

The successful star later turned into director and producer with his first directorial venture 'Apradh' in 1983 which became the first Indian Film to showcase motor racing in Germany with actress Mumtaz in lead. He carried his streak of surprising Indian cinema with wonders as his next 'Dharmatma' (inspired from Hollywood movie The Godfather) bringing him as producer, director and actor in 1975 was the first Indian movie to be shot in Afghanistan. This film was not only a block-buster but also introduced Hema Malini in all new glamorous avatar.

The actor delivered hits like 'Qurbani' starring Zeenat Aman and later also delivered his directorial hits with 'Janbaaz' in which he acted as well with Dimple Kapadia and Anil Kapoor; 'Dayavan' a remake of South-Indian film 'Nayanan' featuring Vinod Khanna, Madhuri Dixit and himself essaying important role. 'Yalgaar' proved to be pause for the actor-director after which he took a break of massive 11 years.

Feroz Khan got married to Sundari Khan and was blessed with two kids Fardeen Khan and Laila Khan. After so long Feroz Khan managed to launch his son Fardeen Khan in 'Prem Aggan' in 1998 which got a disappointing response at the box-office. Feroz marked his second innings in Bollywood as director, producer in 'Janasheen' in 2003. This film also marked his second innings into acting starring alongside his son Fardeen. He was later seen sharing the screen-scape along with his son in 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' in 2005.

Feroz Khan was last seen in 'Welcome' in 2007 before taking a final leave from the Industry on 27th April 2009. The film proved to be a huge hit of 2007.
