Gopika Biography

Gopika mainly features in Malayalam movies. She commenced her career as a model and became a part of acting world with the movie 'Pranayamanithooval' in the year 2003. Gopika stars in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil movies and has appeared in more than 35 flicks. She was born as Girly Anto on 26 August, 1984 in Kerala. She is having a sister named Glini.

From Calicut University, Gopika learned Sociology post finishing her 12th standard in Ollur, Kerala. Her teacher Kamalher gave her the training for classical dance. During her farewell, Gopika was conferred the title of Miss College. The local beauty contest Miss Thrissur was a turning point in her life. Gopika gained some modeling assignments after becoming the first runner up in this contest. With the dream of becoming an airhostess, Gopika accidently became a part of the film industry.

Gopika was featured with Vineeth and Jayasurya in her first movie 'Pranayamanithooval'. It was directed by the director Thulasi Das. Though the film was not much successful at the box-office, it achieved her acclaim in the cinema world. '4 the people' was her second film and it turned out to be a hit among the masses. The prints of this film got dubbed in various Indian languages. Gopika was paired with the actor Bharath in this film and it was directorial venture of Jayaraj. The track 'Lejjavathiye Ninde Kalla Kadaikkannil' attained much popularity in Kerala. In 2004, Gopika was seen in another super hit film named 'Autograph' by famous Tamil director. Gopika also acted in the film named 'Kana Kandaen'.

'Kanasina Loka' was the Kannada flick, in which Gopika acted in. This film was a remake of 'Azhagi' a Telugu film. 'Letha Manasulu' was the Telugu flick of Gopika directed by Raju Upati, which could not perform well at the box-office. Gopika featured in Malayam film named 'Kirti chakra' with the co-star super star Mohanlal. The movie revolved around the story of Kargil war. Her another Malayalam cinema titled 'Veruthe Oru Bharya' made Gopika win the title of Asianet Best actress in the year 2008.

Gopika accomplished awards like Asianet Best Supporting Actress Award in 2004, Asianet Best Star Pair Award in 2006 and Vanitha Film Award for Best Actress in 2008.

On July 17, 2008, Gopika tied the knot with Northern Ireland-based doctor Ajilesh Chacko. Post marriage, Gopia re-appeared in the film world with the movie 'Swantham Lekhakan'. Gopika revealed her wish to work in films after her marriage if she attains interesting opportunities and great script. The couple is blessed with a little angel named Amy in the year 2010.
