Govind Namdeo Biography

Born in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, Govind Namdeo is famous for delivering his marvels in the industry. Completing his Diploma course in acting from the 'National School of Drama' (NSD), Govind then opted to attend a short span course from Film and Television Institute of Pune.

Post his curricular in acting, Namdeo spent a decade working as a member of NSD Repertory Company. Indulging his best in the company, the actor then flourished his talents enacting in various plays back there. The series of plays continued to be a part of his life, until Namdeo was offered his first break by the ace filmmaker David Dhawan. Debuting his first, Namdeo was seen essaying a character of a corrupt cop in the 1992 released 'Shola Aur Shabnam' directed by Dhawan himself.

Striking gold with his first performance, Govind Namdeo feasted on negative depict in films like 'Chamatkaar', 'Aankhen', 'Bandit Queen', 'Prem Granth', 'Satya', 'Sarfarosh', 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani', 'Pukar', 'Raju Chacha', 'Lajja', 'Garv', 'Johnny Gaddaar' and 'Johnny Gaddaar', few from the rest.

Getting a break from the darker side, the actor also proved his versatility by enacting character roles in films like 'Wanted', 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', 'Dum Maaro Dum', 'Singham' and 'OMG Oh My God!'. Recently, the actor went back to wear his shoes of antagonist in the fresh released action-drama 'Boss'.

Presenting his excellence on screen, Namdeo not only gained him recognition, but nurtured acclaims as well. Nominating in the negative role category at Filmfare for 'Satya' in 1999, the actor finally received the honor of 'Best Actor' at the 'Osian's Film Fan Awards' for the performance in 2009 released 'Kabootar', acutely after a decade.

Govind Namdeo, who had also indulged his best on the small screen through few tele-series, has his future occupied with creamy projects like 'Ab Tak Chhappan 2' and others. Govind is currently leading a happy life with wife Sudha Namdeo and three daughters in Mumbai.
