Ismail Darbar Biography

This Indian music composer and violinist was born on June 1, 1964 in Surat, Gujarat. Ismail Darbar is a renowned persona in the music world. For many years, he worked as a session violinist for eminent music directors like Rajesh Roshan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, Nadeem-Shravan, Anand-Milind, Jatin-Lalit and A. R. Rahman. In the super hit film 'Khamoshi: The Musical', Darbar played violin for Jatin-Lalit.

After several years, Ismail Darbar got his first break with the film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. His musical work in this flick was acclaimed and bagged praises. Post this, his music in Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai starrer 'Devdas' was also appreciated. Darbar also composed for the film 'Kisna' by Subhash Ghai with A. R. Rahman.

Ismail Darbar was one of the four celebrity judges on the television musical reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005'. The show had other judges like Himesh Reshammiya, Adesh Shrivastava and Jatin-Lalit. Darbar also judged 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007' by being one of the judges. Darbar turned judge for other shows like 'Bharat Ki Shaan: Singing Star Season 2' and 'Amul Star Voice of India 2'. 'Rasiya Saajan' was Darbar's music album released in the year 2007. He also appeared on 'Bigg Boss Season 3'. Over some reason, he had to undergo a rough career patch after 'Devdas'. The year 2011 saw Ismail Darbar joining politics by entering BJP Gujarat.

He won R. D. Burman Awards in 1999 and National Award for the Music of the film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' in the same year. Darbar worked as the music director for the movies like 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa', 'Deewangee', 'Shakti - The Power', 'Husn', 'Mehbooba', 'The Unforgettable', etc. He also turned music director for a Telugu film 'Vishnu' as well as for television series 'Mahabharat' in 2013. He will be working on a Kannada film 'Kabir' in this year.
