And the couple has two children, a son,Tiger Shroff and a daughter, Krishna Shroff.
Jackie was born in middle-class Gujarati family and used to be a local toughie. Earlier, he had worked as model in few advertisements. He made his acting debut in Dev Anand's 'Swami Dada' (1982), but through Subhash Ghai's musical blockbuster, 'Hero', his acting career got launched in Bollywood. Till today, he is fondly referred as Jackie Dada, his character's name in the movie 'Hero'.
Shroff has co-acted in many super-hit movies with Anil Kapoor such as 'Yudh' (1985), 'Andar Baahar' (1984), 'Karma','Ram Lakhan', etc. At one point in the mid-80s, Shroff was rated more popular than many of his contemporaries. In 1987, with Mahesh Bhatt's 'Kaash', he got a critical acclaim, but the film didn't got commercial success. This movie was a welcome change from his earlier characters of a tough cop or an unemployed youth turned hoodlum.
Subsequently, Shroff restated solid performances in 'Ram Lakhan', 'Tridev', 'Parinda' (1989), 'Angaar' (1992), 'Gardish' (1993), 'Aaina' (1993), 'Border' (1997), 'Lajja'(2001) and 'Devdas' (2002) to name a few.
Shroff continued to work in Subhash Ghai movies. Since 2000 or thereabouts, he has appeared mainly in lead character roles. He is famous for speaking to the media in what we can call it as 'Mumbaiyya Hindi'.
Shroff and his wife runs a media company called Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited. They jointly owned 10% shares in Sony television network, since its launch and in 2012, decided to sell their stake and end their 15-year-long association with Sony TV.
His future projects are Bollywood's much-awaited, 'Dhoom 3', a South film, 'Kochadaiyaan', and his first Oriya film, 'Daha Balunga'.
