Javed Jaffrey Biography

He is known for his great sense of humor, dancing skills, apt judgment and acting and aping abilities; Javed Jaffrey is undoubtedly one of his kinds of actor the industry has. He has been a trend setter in various elements like comedy and dance. He has been also one of the main contributing factors towards revolutionizing the television through his shows.

Javed Jaffrey was born on 4th December 1963 to Veteran comedian Jagdeep. Javed carries this tradition of humor endowed to him in heredity. Javed demonstrates his excellent sense of humor and comic timing while hosting shows for Channel V. Javed created his own brand of comedy on television in 1990's. He anchored Videocon Flashback and Timex Timepass which achieved a cult status. He also, co-founded and judged India's First Dance Reality show 'Boogie Woogie' along with younger brother Naved Jaffrey and friend Ravi Behl, which ultimately broke all the records and went on to strive a long period of 15 years. He gathered a huge fan following as a dancer through this show. The show also gave a platform to various young talents who later made it big in Bollywood. The other shows he hosted were Tele Housie, JBC (Javed Broadcasting Corporation), Chitrahaar, Truck Dhina Dhin, Chak Dhoom Dhoom.

His song Mumbhai, which he himself wrote, conceived, choreographed and sung gained a cult status among the young dancers and sustained as number 1 on the charts for 6 weeks. He also dubbed for Micky Mouse, Goofy and Don Carnage in Hindi for Disney. He also wrote the script for Hindi version of Disney's Jungle Book 2 and Pixar's The Incredibles along with the voice over for the antagonist. He also dubbed 'Charlie Anna' in Roadside Romeo. He won accolades for his funny commentary for Japanese TV show Takeshi's Castle on Pogo TV. On that, he performed in over 200 live shows in India and abroad, and has shared the stage of Michael Jackson, Sting, Spice Girls and Queen and the top Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, A.R.Rahman, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shankar Ehsaan Loy etc. He has been connected with advertising since 1980 as a model, choreographer, copywriter, producer and director.

Javed appeared in a negative character in the movie 'Meri Jung' (1985) and also showed his dancing abilities in the hit song 'Bol Baby Bol'. He has acted in over 35 films after it. Next success for him was movie '100 Days', a suspense thriller. He also appeared in films like 'Tehelka' and 'Oh Darling Yeh Hai India', 'Gang' etc. He majorly concentrated on his television career. He did a Maggi tomato sauce ad, to which he owes his success. In 2003, Javed Jaffrey played the lead in 3d movie 'Jajantaram Mamantaram' specifically made for children. The film was liked by one and all and Javed gained much acclaim. But it was his performance in 'Salaam Namaste' which brought him the much needed success in the Film industry. He received his first IIFA Award for his comic performance of Jaggu Yadav, who spoke a weird version of English. After which it was no looking back. He kept on bagging significant comic roles. He starred in 'Tara Rum Pum', 'Paying Guests', etc. He got rave reviews for his performance in 'Dhamaal' which also starred Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Aashish Chaudhary. Again his grey comic character in 'Singh is Kinng' was appreciated and formed an important part of the story. He also did a cameo in '3 Idiots'. He also appeared in 'Double Dhamaal'.

Javed will next be seen in 'Total Dhamaal' the third installment of 'Dhamaal' series directed by Indra Kumar.
