Jayamalini is a famous south Indian film actress, who is renowned for her vamp roles and Item Number Songs. She acted in more than 500 Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. She had a dance number in "Shalimar" (film), (1978) starring Rex Harrison, Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman, which were in both English and Hindi versions. Her sister Jyothi Lakshmi was beside a cabaret dancer in films. After she retired from films, she wed a police inspector and is settled in Chennai with her children.. Although, her teenage daughter is taking dance classes, she has decided that she won't let her daughter enter films.
