Jiah Khan aka Nafisa Khan is a British Indian actress famous for her roles in the films like 'Ghajini' and 'Nishabd'. She changed her name from Nafisa to Jiah before making debut in the Indian films. In 2012, she changed her name back to Nafisa.
She was born on 20th February 1988 in Chelsea, London. Her parents are Ali Rizvi Khan who is an Indian American and Rabia Amin, former Bollywood actress. Jiah completed her studies in film studies and Literature from London. She went to the Lee Strasberg Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York but left it soon when she received a movie offer from Mumbai.
Jiah got an offer from Mukesh Bhatt for his film 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha - A Love Story'. But Jiah refused the offer as she was just 16 and the role required a quite matured girl. The role was later essayed by Dia Mirza. She made her debut in the controversial film 'Nishabd' with Amitabh Bachchan. The film got mixed reviews but Jiah was noticed for her confidence, sex appeal and attitude. Jiah got the 'Filmfare Best Debutant' award for her performance in 'Nishabd'.
She next appeared in Aamir Khan starer 'Ghajini' a hindi remake of Tamil film with the same name. She shot for Ken Ghosh's 'Chance Pe Dance' but later was replaced by Genelia D'Souza. Recently, UTV Motion Pictures has signed a 2 film deal with Jiah and Ghajini's producer Madhu Mantena has signed a 3 film deal with Jiah. Jiah was also seen in a supporting role in Sajid Khan's 'Housefull'.
Jiah is a trained singer and dancer. She has learnt many styles of dancing like Salsa, Lambada, Jazz, Belly Dancing , Samba, Kathak and Reggae etc. A talented actress who is famous for her long beautiful locks, wants to create her niche in the Indian cinema.
