Kimi Katkar is a model turned actress born on December 11, 1965 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She had a prosperous modeling career which headed her into the films.
In 1985, Kimi marked her Bollywood debut with 'Patthar Dil' playing a supporting role. Soon she got promoted to the lead role with 'Tarzan' opposite Hemant Birje. In late 1980s, her career went up with full swing with the films like 'Mera Lahoo', 'Gair Kaanooni', 'Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni', 'Sher Dil' and 'Zulm Ki Hukumat'.
In 1991, Kimi strike gold with a family thriller drama film 'Hum' opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She was casted in the lead role of a character named "Jumma", on which the song "Jumma Chumma De De" is filmed. Even after decades, this song is popular amongst the audience. After this peaking success, she restricted herself to dance-bias roles.
Just when her popularity was at the peak, Kimi quitted her Bollywood career and married commercial photographer and ad film producer Shantanu Shenoy. She has a son named Siddharth with him and now continues to reside in Melbourne, Australia.
The recent report suggests her comeback with Mira Nair's film based on the book 'Shantaram' which might also star eminent personalities like Amitabh Bachchan and Johnny Depp.
