Kiran Rao Biography
Kiran Rao is an Indian Bollywood director. She is married to Aamir Khan and they have a baby boy Azad. Kiran Rao took birth in a Brahmin family of Bangalore on November 7, 1973. She was brought up in Kolkata where she was schooled in Loreto House and La Martiniere Calcutta. In 1992, her parents decided to leave Kolkata. Thus, she shifted to Mumbai. She got a degree in economics from Sophia College for Women, Mumbai. She attended a social communications Media course at the Sophia Polytechnic for two months, but then went to Delhi. She did her Masters at AJK Mass Communication Research Center at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Kiran Rao began her filmy career by assisting Ashutosh Gowarikar in the movie 'Lagaan ' and 'Swades '. Before 'Lagaan ', she had acted in a small role in the movie 'Dil Chahta Hai '. She also worked as second assistant to Mira Nair in Hit 'Monsoon Wedding'. She scripted and directed the film 'Dhobi Ghaat ' under Aamir Khan Productions in which she is also a co-producer. She had been writing a movie on the backdrop of Kolkata which she may announce soon.
