Kunal Kapoor Biography

Handsome Hunk with a great persona, Kunal Kapoor is an Indian Bollywood actor inching towards success in his own ways. Kunal Kapoor with his lean build, messy hair, thoughtful eyes and a maverick air about him is definitely not the regular guy next door, unless you get truly lucky.

Kunal Kapoor was born in Mumbai, India on 18th October 1977. His father hails from Amritsar, whereas mother's family is from Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Kunal's most notable work was in the movie 'Rang De Basanti' for which he was nominated in the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award category (2006).

Kapoor initiated his career as an assistant director to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in 'Aks'. He started his acting career training under Theatre legend Barry John. He continued his career in theatres with Motley, a theatre group run by Naseeruddin Shah. He debuted in 'Meenaxi - Tale of 3 Cities'.

In 2006, Kapoor gained overnight success with the hit film 'Rang de Basanti'. It was critically and commercially successful and got nominated in BAFTA Awards in the Best Foreign film Category.

In 2007, 'HatTrick', 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag' and 'Aaja Nachle', which was a comeback movie of Madhuri Dixit, flopped at the box office. In 2008, he was appreciated for his guest appearance in movie like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' and 'Welcome To Sajjanpur'. He also starred in Rahul Dholakia's 'Lamhaa'. He played a handy role in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Don 2' (2011) and received acclaim. He was last seen in Sameer Sharma's Light Hearted comedy film 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana' as a lead actor.

Kunal has endorsed various brands like Thumps up, Indian terrain, Ray Ban and Mahindra Logan in the past. He has recently endorsed for Kurkure. He also wrote columns for Hindustan Times lifestyle supplement- HT City.

Kunal will next be seen in Anurag Kashyap's film, where he will play the role of Doga, the superhero form Raj Comics. He will also appear in 'Chamkila', a biography of controversial Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila.
