Leena Chandavarkar Biography

This former Indian actress achieved limelight after becoming the runner-up for the Fresh Face Competition held by Filmfare across the nation. Leena Chandavarkar was born on August 29, 1950 in Dharwad, Karnataka. She used to feature in Bollywood movies and these days, she is seen in some reality shows. Her father was an Army Officer.

After venturing into advertisements, Leena Chandavarkar eventually landed up in films. The film 'Man Ka Meet' alongside Sunil Dutt was her debut flick. Dutt's wife Nargis helped Leena to groom as an actress. Chandavarkar appeared in many films during 1969 to 1979. She featured opposite the adored actors of that era. In the year 1971, Chandavarkar gave an impeccable performance in the film 'Mehboob Ki Mehndi', in which she starred alongside Rajesh Khanna. In the film 'Bairaag', the actress featured opposite the ace star Dilip Kumar and the other actors in the film were Saira Banu, Helen and Prem Chopra.

For the first two episodes of television reality singing show 'K for Kishore', Leena Chandavarkar appeared as the celebrity judge in 2007. The talented lady has also wrote some songs for Amit Kumar's music album.

Talking about her family, Leena Chandavarkar was initially married to Siddharth Bandodkar, who expired in an accident and she became a widow at the age of 25. After some years, the actress got married to the singing maestro Kishore Kumar. She is having a son from him called Sumit Ganguly. Kishore was more than 20 years older than Leena. After the death of the legendary singer, she became widow at the age of 37. Leena Chandavarkar's present family includes her son Sumit, her step-son Amit and his wife as well as Amit's mother.
