Manish Malhotra Biography
The name Manish Malhotra itself is enough to describe his exclusive image in the industry. Born on 5th December 1965, Manish started off his career as a model during his curricular days at Elphinstone College in Mumbai.
Post few modeling assignments in 1989, Manish went on to join in 'Equinox', a fashion boutique in Bandra. It was then in early 1990's when Manish realized that it was fashion and designing costume where his future lies. As well, it was Bollywood where he could aspire his dreams pretty well. And soon Malhotra rode the road to Bollywood.
Manish began designing for Urmila Matondkar in the super hit film 'Rangeela' and then Kajol in the blockbuster 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. However, his work was appreciated and thus, it resulted in grabbing him his first 'Filmfare Award for Costume Designing' for the movie 'Rangeela' in the year 1995.
Soon after, Manish became the first choice of film makers to design for their leading lady and so on. He stepped into the industry when it was not meant to be a niche for designers. He made it happen for all his now colleagues in the industry. Designing ace Bollywood divas from Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Twinkle Khanna, Rani Mukherjee, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor and still the list remains with lot of additions.
His career so far has prospered pretty good, as well got him recognition along with admiration. Looking at his marvelous input in the industry, the fraternity has felicitated the designer with number of awards starting from "Showtime Opinion Poll Award" for Aamir Khan, Karisma Kapoor starrer 'Raja Hindustani', "Siemens Viewers Choice Award" for the mega hit flick 'Dil To Pagal Hai', "Stylish Designer Of the Year" at 'Elle Style Awards' in 1999 an so on.
Styling actresses from Jaya Bhaduri to Alia Bhatt, Manish holds a upper hand in this category. But don't mislead yourself that Manish only designs for females. He is well famous for fabulously styling actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal as well.
Manish has went far ahead then our thought of only being a renowned celeb in India. He has well weighted recognition overseas as well. Manish has achieved a chance that no Indian ever achieved, styling the "King Of Pop" Michael Jackson. The designer was luck enough to style the lord of break dance on an event of Bollywood Awards held in New York. Later, he managed to grab few more celebs from Hollywood right off from Demi Moore, Kylie Minogue and Kate Moss.
While in the designer's era, Manish still holds an upper hand and is the most respected among the list of designers present in B-Town. He also owns his own brand of clothing line called "Manish Malhotra". His work knows no boundary and has surpassed the borders honoring the country in various fashion weeks from London, Bangkok, Dubai, New York etc.
The designer however is very much recognized for his archived designs in then released 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai', 'Mohabbatein', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' , 'Sivaji- The Boss', 'Dostana', '3 Idiots', 'Student Of The Year', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. His future endeavor 'Krrish 3' is the much awaited coming from the ace.
The Malhotra's are accordingly increasing their roots deep with another entrant in Industry Punit Malhotra, who is Manish's nephew. But this time around, Punit has chosen a path of film direction in Bollywood.
