Meera Biography

Irtiza Rubab aka Meera is a well known Pakistani film actress, model, a television presenter and philanthropist. She was born and brought up in Lahore, Pakistan. Her parents are Shafqat Rubab and Sarwar Rubab. She has done BA in interior design from Kinnaird College.

She started her career as a model in 1995. Initially she did modeling for Television advertisements. She modeled for various multinational companies like LUX and Pepsi for a short span. This gained her fame on the national level which led her getting roles in the television series.

Meera's first film was released in 1995 but she was recognized for her performance in the film 'Khilona' released in 1999. This film brought her first Nigar Award. She won another Nigar award for her performance in the film 'Inteha'. Her role in 'Salakhain' gained her the international recognition.

Meera made her Bollywood debut with the first Indo-Pakistani film 'Nazar' by Soni Razdan. She got critical acclaim for her performance in this film. But her kissing scene with her co-actor Ashmit Patel created lots of controversy in both India and Pakistan. Meera's second Bollywood movie was 'Kasak' with Lucky Ali. The film could not be successful at the box office. Her next was 'Paanch Ghantey Mien Paanch Crore' by Faisal Saif also was unsuccessful at the box office. The film managed to get 50% openings on its release. Times Of India listed the film in Top 10 bold movies of 2012 in Bollywood.

Meera joined cricketer Imran Khan in the telethon to raise the funds for 2010 Pakistan Floods. Meera is engaged to an American pilot who is of Pakistani origin.
