Mohit Marwah is an Indian actor born on August 26, 1987 in New Delhi. He belongs to a well established Bollywood family, his maternal uncles Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor being the big names of the industry and even his father Sandeep Marwah being the founder of Noida Film City. Still, Mohit chose to lead an independent way to enter into the Hindi film industry.
As a child, Mohit grew up watching the filming of 'Dil Se' and many other films in his father's studio. He attended Don Bosco School and completed his formal education from the University of Delhi. Later he joined Asian Academy of Film and Television for Diploma in Filmmaking. Thereafter, he worked as an assistant director for Vikram Bhatt in three of his films.
After experiencing the art of film-making from behind the camera, Mohit decided to switch to acting. Therefore, he went to New York's Lee Strasberg Acting School to learn acting. He came back to India and began his struggle. Without taking any help from his family, he knocked every possible door to get a Bollywood break. It was during this process, he acted in two short films titled 'The Audition' and 'Strangers in the Night' produced by his brother Akshay Marwah and Karan Johar respectively. Soon his patience and hard work paid off after getting a lead role in his debut film 'Fugly'.
Mohit is very close to his actor cousin Arjun Kapoor and is often seen partying with him. Even after hailing from Delhi's Punjabi family, he has now shifted his base to Mumbai, the home of Bollywood.
