Moushmi Chatterjee Biography
Moushmi Chatterjee, the unconventional beauty was born on 26th of April, 1948, in Kolkata. Living in a family of national delegates, the army officer father and grandpa being a judge, the beauty was never imagined to try her best into the glamour industry.
Stepping her first into films, Moushmi received a debut in Bengali film 'Balika Badhu' directed by Tarun Majumdar in 1967. Being a success in then among releases, the flick also bagged Moushmi her first award in the Best Actress nomination. Nurturing bong lanes for a while, Chatterjee soon marked her first Bollywood presence in 1973 released 'Anuraag'. As the film struck gold at the box office, Moushmi continued her streak as a star in several Bengali and Hindi films. Films like 'Naina', 'Kachhe Dhaage', 'Zehreela Insaan', 'Roti Kapada Aur Makaan', 'Humshakal', 'Raftaar', 'Do Jhoot', 'Anand Ashram', 'Ab Kya Hoga', 'Do Ladke Dono Kadke' and 'Swayamvar', few from the rest kept the beauty entangled for a long.
Post delivering several flicks as a lead with then superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna and Shashi Kapoor, the actress later chose to perform character roles by 1980's.
The actress also proved to make a statement by acting in films after marriage, as it was considered a taboo. Getting hitched to Jayantha Mukherjee, the son of legendary composer and singer Hemant Kumar, nurtured a happily married life with her spouse and two daughters. Well though being in the industry, a piece of controversy too brushed off this beauty.
The actress was later seen in character roles in her furthers as like 'Agnee', 'Sikka', 'Ghayal', 'Prateeksha' and 'Ikke Pe Ikka', few among others. However, the 1998 released 'Kareeb' transformed the actress to be more matured by enacting as the lead's mother.
Carry forwarding the new avatar, Moushmi Chatterjee was then seen in 'Keemat', 'Hum Kaun Hai', 'Zindaggi Rocks', 'Goynar Baksho' and others. Apart from B-Town, Chatterjee also tried a walk into politics and enrolled herself into politics long back in 2004.
