Mustan Burmawalla Biography
Mustan Burmawalla is the younger brother of Abbas Burmawalla who together forms the directing twosome Abbas-Mustan. Mustan also has a younger brother 'Hussain Burmawalla'. Surat, Gujarat is their native place. His Family was in the business of furniture but he and Abbas always had zeal to do something worth in their life and so they approached their uncle S.D Kura. Kura, being a Hindi movie editor, advised them to take up to editing and afterwards march towards direction. They got their break as assistant directors under Sultan Ahmed in the movie 'Ganga ki Saugandh' (1978). Also, along with Govindbhai Patel they did some movies only until Patel refused a Gujarati movie named 'Sajan Tara Sambharana'. This movie was taken by the two brothers as their directorial debut. Later, they directed some Gujarati movies and steadily stepped into directing Hindi Movies.
From, their first movie 'Agneekal' in the year 1990, they have never looked back. Now, they also possess their own Production house called 'Burmawalla Partners'. They are known for repeating their actors. Amisha Patel, Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna are considered to be their favorites. They are also famous for presenting gray shaded characters in their movies. Also allegations are that most of their movies are inspired by some Hollywood or other movies. The duo has numerous super hit movies in their kitty such as 'Baazigar', 'Khiladi', 'Humraaz', 'Aitraaz' and 'Race'. They are credited to have made best Suspense-thriller movies in Indian Cinema. Mustan has recently directed 'Race 2' which is the sequel of 'Race'.
