Nassar Biography

Nassar is an Indian film actor who have worked in six different languages cinemas, namely, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. He was born on March 5, 1958 in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu to Mehaboob Basha and Mumtaz Begum. His full name is Mehaboob Nassar. Nassar is married to Kameela and they have three sons.

He is mainly seen in Tamil cinema. In his struggling days to earn his living, he had done various odd jobs such as security guard, salesman and waiter. He started his acting career in Doordarshan. His first feature film was 'Panangaadu', which was based on the life of palm tree climbers, where Nassar was the protagonist. It was directed by Mr. Senapathy and produced by Doordarshan and participated in many international film festivals.

His first mainstream film was K. Balchander's 'Kalyana Agadhigal' (1985). He continued playing negative roles in 'Velaikaaran' and 'Vannakkanavugal'. In Yuhi Sedhu's 'Kavidhai Paada Neram Illai', he was the protagonist. Then arrived Mani Ratnam's 'Nayagan' with actor Kamal Haasan.

He entered Bollywood in the year 1995, playing the character of Inspector Teja in the film, 'Criminal'. Later, he went on doing several Hindi movies, including, 'Chachi 420' (1997), 'Hey Ram' (2000), 'Phir Milenge' (2004), 'Nishabd' (2007), 'Firaaq' (2009), 'Quick Gun Murugun' (2009), 'Rowdy Rathore' (2012). In the year 2013, he had number of releases, 'Vishwaroop', 'David', 'Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story', 'D-Day'. Currently, 'Vishwaroop 2' is on the process of filming. He has won number of awards for his spectacular performances.

He is the founder of 'Adavu', a Center for Tamil Arts which aims at training people in various subjects including folk arts, storytelling, research and documentary-film making.
