Bollywood's very own handsome and fair prince charming, Neil Nitin Mukesh, is one of the heartthrobs who has certainly got many girls head over heels for him. Originally from Mumbai and born on 15th of January 1982 as Neil Nitin Mukesh Chand Mathur, his father is singer Nitin Mukesh and his grandfather is famous and celebrated great singer Mukesh Chand Mathur. He got his name from the astronaut Neil Armstrong which was given to him by Lata Mangeshkar. He completed his schooling in the Greenlawns High School and gained a Bachelors Degree in Communications from HR College. His biggest decision was to go for acting despite of having his father and grandfather as noted singers. He learned acting from Kishore Kapoor and also trained in the acting workshop of versatile actor Anupam Kher.

He began his acting career doing the role of a chid artist in the late 80s with 'Vijay' in 1988 and 'Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni' in 1989. However it was not until 2007 that he was seen in the title role in Sriram Raghavan's 'Johnny Gaddaar', for which he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award. He also won critic's appreciation for his role in the film. In 2009 he was seen playing the role of the photographer in 'Aa Dekhen Zara'. However, what really propelled him to be a noted actor was the role of Omar in Kabir Khan's terror drama 'New York' (2009). He not only won critical and audience appreciation, but also the nomination for Filmfare Award For Best Supporting Actor. In the same year he was seen in the Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Jail', which didn't do well.

He began the journey of his career in the new decade with 'Lafangey Parindey' in 2010, where he starred opposite to Deepika Padukone. In 2011 he was seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's '7 Khoon Maaf', where he starred opposite to Priyanka Chopra. 2012 saw him in the Abbas Burmawalla-Mustan Burmawalla film 'Players', which was a remake of Hollywood hit 'The Italian Job'.

However, acting is not the only domain where you can see this charming young man. He has also been in philanthropy, where he has started an NGO that supports women, providing them with all necessities that help them gain independence and dignity. The project was named after his grandmother Saral Devi. He also joined the German automotive giant Volkswagen for environmental initiative named 'Think Blue'.

In 2013 he will be seen in the film '3G' staring opposite to Sonal Chauhan and also in 'David', which is a bilingual film. In addition, he will be seen working opposite to Amisha Patel in the film 'Shortcut Romeo' in April 2013. Apart from that he is working on 'Ishqeria' a love story by Prerna Wadhwan. He will also be seen sharing the screen space with Prateik Babbar in 'Rum Pum Posshh' which is a youth-centric movie.
