We all recognize that witty Jasoos Karamchand along with his funny assistant Kitty, he has made us laugh as Mussaddilal in the satirical comedy
'Office Office'. We are talking about none other than Mandola of our Bollywood i.e. Pankaj Kapur. He is the famous actor,
screenwriter and director. He was born on 29th May 1954 in Ludhiana, Punjab. Pankaj Kapur firstly studied engineering from New Delhi
and finished it as a topper in his college. Later he joined the famous National School Of Drama and graduated from it in 1976. After completing
graduation from NSD, he did theatre for four years but then developed a desire to be a film actor. He was offered a role in 'Gandhi' by Richard Attenborugh.
Pankaj Kapur was married to actress Neelima Azeem and actor Shahid Kapoor is their son.
He divorced with Neelima in 1984 and later married his co-actress Supriya Pathak aka Kitty in 1986. They have two children named Ruhaan Kapoor, and Sanah Kapoor.
Pankaj made his acting debut with Shyam Benegal's film 'Arohan' in 1982. Later he played the role of
Pyarelal in Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi'.
Later he appeared in many art films and worked for parallel cinema. The hardcore theatre artist who has done more than 74 plays till date has acted in
the films like 'Mandi' ,'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' ,'Mohan Joshi Haazir Ho' ,'Khandhar' ,'Khamosh'.
Many art films in which Pankaj Kapur played a key role are the national award winning films.
In 1986, he turned his focus on the small screen where his role of Jasoos (detective) Karamchand went viral among the audience. Till date, he has
appeared in many TV serials like 'Kab Tak Pukaroon' ,'Zabaam Sambhaal Ke' ,'Lifeline', 'Neem Ka Ped' ,'Philips Top 10 ' and his most popular TV series is
'Office Office'.
Pankaj Kapur has showcased his naturalistic and magical performances in the films like
'Chameli Ki Shaadi','Ek Ruka Hua Faisla' ,'Jalwa' ,'Raakh' ,'Roja' ,'Ek Doctor Ki Maut', 'Maqbool' ,'Blue Umbrella', 'Halla Bol' ,
'Dus' and 'Chala Mussaddi - Office Office'. Recently he was seen in a fantastic role of Mandola in Vishal Bhardwaj's film 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'.
