Bubbly and gorgeous Pooja Bhatt was the classic Daddy's girl. After delivering hit films like 'Sadak', 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' and 'Sir' as an actress, Pooja ventured into producing and directing films.
Pooja Bhatt was born on 24th Feb 1972 to director Mahesh Bhatt and Kiran Bhatt in Mumbai. Later, her parents divorced and actress Soni Razdan married her father. Actress Alia Bhatt is Pooja's step sister. Vikram Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi are her cousins. Pooja was briefly involved with VJ turned Actor Ranvir Shorey. She married boyfriend Manish Makhija in 2003. He was a VJ on Channel V, better known as Udham Singh and is currently a restaurateur.
Pooja debuted at the age of seventeen in 1989 movie 'Daddy', directed by Mahesh Bhatt. She played a daughter helping her father (Anupam Kher) to give up alcohol. Her next hit was 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' starring Aamir Khan which was a close inspiration of Hollywood's It Happened One Night. Pooja was rewarded with a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for it. 'Sadak' (1992) with Sanjay Dutt was a remake of another Hollywood hit Taxi Driver where she played a sex worker. She appeared in noted films like 'Sir' (1993), 'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee' (1993), 'Tadipaar' (1993), 'Chahat' (1996), 'Tamanna' (1997) and super hits 'Border' (1997) and 'Zakhm' (1998).
She made her directorial debut with 'Paap' which starred John Abraham and Udita Goswami. Thereafter, she directed movies like 'Holiday' (2006), Dhokha' (2007), Kajraare (2010) and Jism 2(2012). Her next directorial venture would be 'Jism 3'.
