Poonam Dhillon Biography

An eminent movie and theatre actress Poonam Dhillon mesmerized the audience with her eternal charm during her career as an actress. When we hear the name of Poonam Dhillon, one certain thing comes to our mind is her movie 'Noorie', which was a super hit in 1979. This beauty knew how to blend her brilliance with splender and gain advantage from it. Poonam Dhillon was born on 18 April 1962 in Kanpur. Her father Amrik Singh was an aeronautical engineer in the Indian Armed Forces. Her mother's name is Gurcharan Kaur. Carmel Convent High School in Chandigarh is from where Poonam did her schooling. At the tender age of sixteen years, Poonam was crowned the title of Femina 'Miss Young India'.

The renowned Bollywood director Yash Chopra was the one, who perceived hidden talent in Poonam. And he decided to cast her in his film 'Trishul' (1978). Poonam Dhillon featured in a very popular song in this movie called 'Gapoochi Gapoochi Gum Gum'. The great Marathi actor Sachin Pilgaonkar was her co-star in this film. Director Yash Chopra was so much enchanted by her performance in 'Trishul', that he offered her lead role in another movie titled 'Noorie'. Poonam played this role very successfully making a place for her in viewers' mind. 'Noorie' film received much appreciation from the audience. For this movie, Poonam was nominated by Filmfare for the Best Actress category.

The gorgeous lady was also seen in a Bengali flick named as 'Nyay Danda' and one of the Kannada film 'Yuddha Kaanda'. She also appeared in a Telugu movie titled 'Ishtam'. 'The Perfect Husband' was the play performed by Poonam Dhillon in the year 2005 and it completed Golden Jubilee run. At present, she appears in the plays - 'The Perfect Wife' and 'Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi'.

Having a glance at her film career, Poonam Dhillon acted in around 90 movies in her career span. This lucky actress featured with yesteryears' superstar Rajesh Khanna in six movies. The hot pair was seen in the films like 'Nishaan'(1983), 'Dard' (1981), 'Awaam' (1987), 'Zamana' (1985). The talented actress is involved in make-up van business. She also owns a make-up van company named as 'Vanity'. The actress has remained active in holy social causes, such as aids awareness, drug awareness, organ donation, family planning, etc. Poonam Dhillon owns an event and film production company called as Poetic Justice Films Pvt Ltd.

Poonam Dhillon participated in television reality show 'Bigg Boss' (Season 3) aired on Colors channel in the year 2011.
