Preity Zinta Biography

The gorgeous and bubbly Preity Zinta is a known Indian actress and a business woman. She is the Co-owner of IPL Cricket team Kings 11 Punjab.

Preity was born to Durganand Zinta, an Army personnel and Nilprabha Zinta in Rohru, Shimla District. She holds a graduate degree in English and a Post Graduate Degree in Criminal Psychology. She started modeling and acting for a few ads like Perk, Liril etc. Her first movie was 'Dil Se' opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Her next movie 'Soldier' was well received. She won the Filmfare Best Female Debut in 1998. She then featured in various genres playing different roles in movies like 'Kya Kehna!', 'Mission Kashmir', 'Dil Chahta Hai', unsuccessful movies like 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke', 'Dil Hai Tumhaara' etc.

In the year 2003, she was blessed to have two back-to-back hit movies like 'Koi... Mil Gaya', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho'. She won her first Filmafare award for Best actress for the same. She acted in hit movies like: 'Veer-Zaara' (2004), 'Salaam Namaste' (2005),'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' (2006). She also appeared in a Canadian Film Heaven on Earth. Other than entertainment industry Preity has served in media industry too. She wrote columns for BBC News Online South Asia. She also appeared in Rituparno Ghosh's 'The Last Lear'. She along with her ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia formed a Production company PZNZ Media. She has also been an Anchor and Social Activist. She was the only witness who publicly voiced her statement in the Bharat Shah Mafia Case. She was awarded a Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Award. She has hosted shows like 'Guiness world record-Ab India Todega', and 'Up close and personal with PZ'. She has been an active part of some social programs like women empowerment, blood donation, HIV /AIDS awareness, initiative to stop human trafficking, preventing female infanticide, children welfare etc. Preity will next appear in Yash Raj's third part of 'Dhoom 3' and her home production 'Ishkq In Paris'.
