The actress was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, India to a Kashmiri family on December 24, 1957. Actor D.K. Sapru is her father and her brother is Tej Sapru. Priti did her schooling from St. Joseph's High School, Juhu, Bombay. She wed Utpal Ahluwalia. The marriage reception took place at Hotel Sun n Sand and Bollywood actress Rekha and others were beside seen in the party.
Films
She started her film career by playing minor roles in various Hindi films like Sunehra Sansar (1975), Darinda (1977), Bandish (1980), Laawaris (1981), and more. Priti played a character named Channi in her Punjabi debut Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da (1982) where she was seen opposite Gurdas Mann. Priti was paired with Pradeep Kumar in Oonche Log (1985) and played the role of a sister in films like Do Matwale (1991) and Mehndi Shagna Di (1992).
She directed and acted in films like Qurbani Jatt Di (1990) and Mehndi Shagna Di (1992). In the Dharmendra and Gurdas Mann starrer Qurbani Jatt Di, Priti played a character named Jeeto Dhiba. She wrote the screenplay and story for films like Zameen Aasmaan (1984) and Qurbani Jatt Di (1990).
