Purab Kohli is an model-cum-actor-cum-anchor-cum-video jockey, born on 23rd February 1979 at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He has got into almost all the professions, a young lad dreams off. He completed his schooling in various schools of St. Stanislaus, Auxilium Convent and The Bishop's School from Pune, Maharashtra. Later, he kept on switching his education streams from Science to Commerce and finally he completed his graduation in Arts. Then he went to acquire an official Pilot training course, but discontinued it. Academically he wasn't stable because his destiny wanted him to do something different then that typical 9-to-5 job.
Purab's boyish charm garnered him a teenage television show 'Hip Hip Hurray' on ZEE TV. He finally strikes to stardom, when Channel [V] hired him as its Video Jockey. His nonstop babbling made him the anchor of a popular music talent hunt show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstars'. Also, he has hosted a travel show named 'Gone India' and a quiz show 'Terra Quiz' on National Geography. He also has been the face of the brands like Colgate, Pizza Hut, Compaq Presario, Castrol and Amazon Batteries.
Kohli made his big screen acting debut with 'Bas Yun Hi' in the year 2003. Later, films like 'Supari', 'Vaastu Shastra' '13th Floor', 'Woh Lamhe...', 'Awarapan', 'Turning 30' and 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects' came on his way. But his performance in 'My Brother Nikhil' and 'Rock On' earned him the sheer acclamation.
Purab has his deep roots in Bollywood, as he is the grandson of the evergreen actor Dev Anand and the nephew of filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Even the love of his life, Yamini Namjoshi is an upcoming director, who has assisted Prakash Jha in the making of 'Raajneeti'. But reportedly, the couple has parted their ways with a divorce in the year 2012.
Though Purab has passed that age, still he holds the teenage charm in his personality!
