Rahul Dev who is a well known face in the b-town was born as Rahul Dev Samra. Rahul is a famous actor and former model. He was born on 27th September 1968 in Saket, Delhi. He hails from a Khatri Punjabi family. His brother Mukul Dev is also an actor who appears in films and on Television as well. Rahul's father was a former Police Commissioner of Delhi. He went to St. Columba's School in Delhi for his school education. Rahul was an excellent fast bowler when he used to play for his school's cricket team. Former cricket player Gursharan Singh noticed the spark in Rahul as he used to coach his school team. Singh asked Rahul to join his academy, but Rahul did not join it as he wanted to concentrate on studies at that time.

Rahul who is recognized for his unusual strong looks and chiseled body was planned to debut with Mukul Anand's film 'Dus' in 1997. But due to the director's sudden death, the film remained incomplete and was not released. Rahul marked his debut on the silver screen with the 2000 film 'Champion'. In that film, he played the role of an antagonist. Since then, Rahul was seen playing mostly villainous roles or supporting roles in his films.

Over the years, Rahul was seen in many Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Oriya and Punjabi films. He has appeared in Malayali films as well. Some of his popular Hindi films are 'Champion' ,'Aashiq' ,'Asoka' ,'Indian' ,'23rd March 1931 Shaheed',' Awara Paagal Deewana' ,'88 Antop Hill' ,'Supari' ,'Footpath', 'Agni Pankh', 'Bardaasht' ,'Aan' ,'Kyon Ki' ,'Fight Club', 'Jimmy', 'Mukhbiir' ,'Sankat City', 'U Me Aur Hum' ,'Blue' ,'Shaapit' and 'Run Bhola Run' etc.

The talented actor has been nominated for the Filmfare's Best Villain Award for 'Champion' in 2001 and he has won the Zee Cine Award Best Villain for 'Footpath'.

Rahul was married to Rina for 11 years. But his wife Rina lost the battle with cancer and passed away on 16th May 2009. The couple has a 11 year old son named Siddharth. Rahul is actively involved in philanthropic activities. He was featured in an advertisement for PETA against the practices of Indian Zoos. He described the zoos as animal prisons maintained for human amusement.
