Rahul Khanna Biography

Rahul Khanna is a famous actor, animal lover and a well known television presenter. He was born and brought up in Mumbai. Rahul was born on 20th June 1972 to the Bollywood matinee idol Vinod Khanna , who is a politician as well and ex-model Gitanjali Taleyarkhan. Rahul is an elder brother of renowned Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna.

Rahul studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and then went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Rahul began his on screen career as a VJ with MTV Asia in 1994. He presented shows on MTV India for 4 years. He became very famous for his style of VJaying. His fan following grew immense during those four years.

Rahul made his silver screen debut with Deepa Mehta's film '1947 Earth' with Aamir Khan. He gave a mesmerizing performance in his debut film. He received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for this film. He was also seen in Deepa Mehta's 'Bollywood Hollywood' in 2003.

Rahul was a part of mainstream Bollywood films like 'Raqeeb' and 'Elaan'. He gave a special appearance in Santosh Sivan's film 'Tahaan'. Rahul essayed a role of Veer in 2008 film 'Dil Kabaddi' by Anil Sharma. He appeared in the cameos in Imtiaz Ali's film 'Love Aaj Kal' and Ayan Mukherjee's film 'Wake Up Sid'.

Rahul has some international credits in his kitty like '3 AM' and 'The Emperor's Club'. Besides films, Rahul is actively involved in theatre as well. He played a part of young, rebellious Tariq in 'East Is East' . He has given a memorable performance in this play and won accolades from one and all. Along with playing a part of a VJ on MTV Asia, he has also appeared on the shows like Asian Variety Show on AVS TV Network in 1999 to 2001, Discovery Week on the Discovery Channel in 2006 and he has hosted numerous award functions, beauty pageants and Fashion shows as well.

Rahul Khanna , the talented actor is a great animal lover as well. He has appeared in a PETA India campaign to protect birds and elephants. The handsome hunk has done various brand endorsements too. He did advertisements for the brands like Pepsi, Toyota, Lay's Chips, DTC, Trent, Jaypee Group, Johnie Walker Blue Label, Maggi, Audi, Tommy Hilfiger and Kiehl's.
