Rajendra Gupta Biography

Rajendra Gupta is an Indian actor and director, born in a business family of Panipat, Haryana. He completed his graduation from Kuruksetra University. During his college days, he nurtured his passion by acting in plays. In 1972, he went to National School of Drama in New Delhi to get a post graduation degree in direction.

In 1985, he shifted his base to Mumbai along with his family and started working in television serials. He first appeared on screen with DD National's 'Kahan Gaye Woh Log' and then went over acting in innumerable TV shows. Three years later, he took a step forward in Bollywood with 'Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin'. His exemplary work made him register his name in the Limca Book of Records for appearing in most number of television serials.

Rajendra Gupta has worked in number of critically acclaimed films like 'Amu', 'Sehar', 'Guru' and 'Paan Singh Tomar'. He also flared well in commercial films like 'Mission Kashmir', 'Lagaan', 'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Bobby Jasoos'.

Though Rajendra played number of character roles in TV serials and films, yet theatre continues to be his first love. He gave major contribution of his career being an actor as well as the director in the plays like 'Sarphire', 'Jaheez Hatyare', 'Chanakyashastra' and 'Kanyadaan'. He jointly owns a theatre company named "Sahaj Productions", with actress Neena Gupta.
