Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Biography

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is a well known director and screenwriter in the Bollywood. He was born on 7th July 1963, in New Delhi. He has studied in Shri Ram College of Commerce. His father used to work for Claridges in New Delhi. A talented director is a very good athlete as well. He has represented India in Asian Games 1982 for swimming competition in New Delhi. The director is married to P. S. Bharathi and the couple have two kids, a daughter and a son.

Mehra started his career by working for Eureka Forbes. Then he establishes his own company Flicks Motion Picture Limited in the year 1986. He used to make advertisement films. He has directed a number of television commercials for various Indian and international brands like Toyota, Pepsi ,Coke, BPL , American Express and many more.

He made his debut in the Bollywood with the film 'Aks' which was moderately successful at the box office. The film had Amitabh Bachchan. His next was 'Rang De Basanti' which was a huge box office hit. It had Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan , Siddharth, Kunal Kapoor and Sharman Joshi. He has got the best director's award at the Filmfare for 'Rang De Basanti'. He also got the National Film Award and BAFTA award nomination for Rang De Basanti. The film got entry to the Oscars as well.

His next was 'Delhi 6' which got an average response at the box office. The film had Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. It got rave reviews from the critics.

Currently, Rakeysh is looking forward for his next projects 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' , a biopic on famous athlete Jiv Milkha Singh starring Farhan Akhtar and'3 Thay Bhai' starring Shreyas Talpade and Om Puri. He has 2 projects in the line named as 'Bhairavi' and 'Raja And The Legend Of The Flute'.
