Rakhi Sawant Biography

The queen of controversy , Rakhi Sawant is a famous dancer, actress and an anchor. She has appeared in numerous Hindi , Marathi, Kannada. Telugu and Tamil films in cameos or guest appearances. She commonly tagged as an item girl.

Rakhi was born on 25th November 1978 in Worli, Mumbai. Her father was ACP at Worli Police Station and her mother Jaya Bheda was a homemaker. Rakhi went to Goklibai High School and then attended Mithibai college. She holds a bachelors degree in arts. Film director Rakesh Sawant is her brother and former actress Usha Sawant is her sister.

Rakhi made her debut with the low budget film 'Agnichakra' which went unnoticed. She then appeared in some other low budget Bollywood films also. But these films went unnoticed. She did cameos and small appearances as a junior artist in the films like 'Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke' ,'Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai' and 'Joru Ka Ghulam'. But she was not noticed by anybody. She got into a fame when she did an item number 'Mohabbat Hai Mirchi' in the film 'Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne'. After that she got small roles in the films like 'Masti' and 'Main Hoon Na'. She was seen in a remix music video 'Pardesia' which gained her popularity. After that she went on doing many item numbers and music videos.

Rakhi got entangled herself in the controversies when singer Mika tried to kiss her on her birthday and when she was charged with obscenity for her attire and gestures at one stage show in Kolhapur. Rakhi appeared as one of the contestants in a reality show Bigg Boss. She launched her reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamwar but turned down the selected guy Elesh Parujanwala due to some differences.

Rakhi regularly appears in various reality shows and stage shows. She is a regular performer at various events. In 2012, she announced that she is working in a Bengali remake of 'The Dirty Picture'.
