Ram Kapoor is an Indian TV actor well known for his role in the popular Hindi daily soap 'Bade Achche Lagte Hain', where he plays the character of a rich businessman with the same name. Ram Kapoor, born on 01 September 1973 in Jalandhar, Punjab,is working in the profession of acting since 1997. He attended the Scottish High School in Mumbai, and then the prestigious Sherwood College in Nainital. He completed his education after the 10th grade at Kodaikanal International School. He is married to one of his former co-stars Gautami Gadgil. He has two children, Sia and Aks Kapoor.
His love for acting was evident when he left for Los Angles and joined the Stanislavski acting academy instead of joining the UCLA where he was suppose to go for learning film making after graduation. It was only after six months of attending the acting school that he disclosed to his parents that he was actually attending an acting academy not UCLA. He did have the toughest time in life as he had to do odd jobs for financially supporting himself including selling cars and working at Starbucks.
Ram made his acting debut with the television series 'Nyay' in 1997, which was directed by Sudhir Mishra. Though the show wasn't much of a success, Ram won accolades of appreciation for his role. After that he was seen in popular Indian TV soaps like 'Heena'(1998),'Sangharsh'(1999),'Kavita' (2000),'Ghar Ek Mandir' (2000),'Bali' (2004) and 'Kasamh Se' (2006). He had also played a cameo role in 'Monsoon Wedding' by Mira Nair. In 2005 he acted in three movies namely 'Devaki, 'Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow ' and 'Missed Call'. The last one received good as well as sour reactions with gaining a critical appreciation at the Indian Film Festival Of Los Angeles but experiencing a failure the Cannes Film Festival.
He also had an experience as a theatre artist in 'The Fifty Days of War-Kargil'. That is his only theatre experience. 2009 saw him in appearing on reality shows 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar'. He made his commercial film debut in the same year in the film starring Deepika Padukone and Farhan Akhtar 'Karthik Calling Karthik' .In 2010, his supporting role in the much appreciated film 'Udaan' was remarkable.
However, it was in 2011 that he gained wide popularity as an actor with Ekta Kapoor's 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain', a love drama, where he starred opposite to Sakshi Tanwar. The Global Indian Film And TV Honors awarded him the Best Jodi Award for his role in the series. In recent years, he has worked in Bollywood films like 'Love U...Mr. Kalakaar!', 'Student Of The Year' and 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu'. In 2013, he will play the role of a host in a TV show called 'WELCOME'. In 2013, he will be also seen in the film 'Mai', which is the acting debut of the famous singer Asha Bhosle. He will also be seen playing the supporting role in the film 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' this year.
