Ranbir Kapoor Biography

He is Bollywood's very own prince charming, a heartthrob of every girl and a much loved celeb of the B-Town. Indeed we are talking about none else than the handsome and charming Ranbir Kapoor. Born on 28th September 1982, he is the son of popular yesteryear actor Rishi Kapoor and actress Neetu Singh. Also he is the grandson of Bollywood's most celebrated filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor. He completed his schooling in Mumbai from the Bombay Scottish School and learned acting from Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York. However, before commencing his career into full fledged commercial acting, he worked in a short film known as 'Passion To Love' in 2002. In fact, he also directed the film. In addition, he performed in another short film called 'India 1964' in 2004.

He made his first acting debut in Bollywood in the year 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2007, where he starred opposite to another newcomer, Sonam Kapoor.Though the film wasn't successful, his acting was appreciated and he won the 'Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut'. After that, he was seen in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' (2008) starring opposite to Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba'. The film was a success and he was praised for his performance. In 2009, he was seen in 'Wake Up Sid', 'Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year' and 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani'.

However, one of his noteworthy roles is the role of an ambitious politician in his 2010 film 'Raajneeti' by Prakash Jha, which was a blockbuster. His next film in the same year was 'Anjaana Anjaani' where for the first time he was paired opposite Priyanka Chopra. The year 2011 was a jackpot for Ranbir. He was seen in Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar' where he starred opposite to newcomer Nargis Fakhri. His performance in the film earned him, not only the praise and appreciation of critics and audiences, but also the Filmfare Best Actor Award.

In 2012, he acted in a remarkable and touching film, a love story between a deaf-mute guy and an autistic girl, named 'Barfi!'. His role as a deaf-mute person was much appreciated and praised along with Priyanka Chopra's role in the film as an autistic girl. The film was India's nominee for the Oscars and was also shown at the Busan International Film Festival as well as the Marrakech International Film Festival.

His of his upcoming films are 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' by Ayan Mukherjee where he stars opposite to Deepika Padukone and 'Besharam' by Abhinav Kashyap where he shares the screen space with new entrant Pallavi Sharda'. Others are 'Roy' by Vicky Singh and 'Bombay Velvet' by Anurag Kashyap.
