Rensil D'Silva Biography

Rensil D'Silva is a popular Indian Film Director, writer and Ad-guru.

Rensil D'Silva began his filmy career in 2001 with the movie 'Aks' as a story writer. Later, he wrote screenplay for 'Shoebite' (2008) and 'Rang De Basanti' (2006), a patriotic drama which was a hit both with the critics and viewers and got international acclaim.

Finally, he was noticed by filmmaker Karan Johar who recognized his talent and gave him a chance to direct 'Kurbaan' under Dharma Productions. Rensil also wrote the screenplay of the movie. Though the movie performed averagely at the box office, it acquired a few nominations in some awards. D'Silva wrote the screenplay of 'Student Of The Year' which was directed by Karan Johar. Rensil is credited to have written the Indian Version of International TV series, 24, starring Anil Kapoor (2012). Rensil has an experience of working with diverse directors from Karan Johar, Shoojit Sircar, Mani Ratnam and David Dhawan. Other than the feature films Rensil has been active in advertising world too. He held the position of Creative Director in Advertising Agency for nearly two decades. He had worked in agencies such as JWT, Rediffusion, Saatchi & Saatchi, Mudra DDB, Ogilvy and Mather. He started O&M's second agency Meridian in 2008. He is also a reputed Ad-Film maker. He has won numerous national and international awards during his two decades of Advertising.

Rensil's next venture will be 'Ungli', a comedy starring Sanjay Dutt, Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut and Neha Dhupia in pivotal roles. It will be produced by Dharma Productions. It will release on September 6, 2013.
