Sagarika Ghatge Biography

Sagarika Ghatge is best known as Preeti Sabharwal of 'Chak De India'. She is a daughter of veteran actor Vijayendra Ghatge. She was born on 8th January 1986 in a royal Maratha family of Kolhapur. She studied at Chhatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya School till 8th standard and later she shifted to Ajmer where she completed 10th and 12th standard studies. She soon shifted to Mumbai and did her graduation from HR college in Mumbai.

Sagarika learnt acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor's acting institute. She used to play hockey when she was in school and college. When she was studying in college, she used to get lots of offers for ad films. But her father refused to accept any till she complete her graduation.

Sagarika made her acting debut with 'Chak De India'. She portrayed the character of Preeti Sabharwal of the fictional Indian women's national hockey team. The film was a hit and Sagarika came into the limelight. She became a brand ambassador for Reebok India. She appeared on the cover pages of many fashion magazines and walked the ramp in many fashion shows as well. The leggy lass then appeared in the movie 'Fox' with Arjun Rampal in 2009.

Sagarika's next screen appearance was in 'Miley Naa Miley Hum'. For the first time she essayed a lead role in the film 'Rush' opposite Emraan Hashmi. The movie was released in 2012. She was seen in a Marathi movie 'Premachi Goshta' recently with ace actor Atul Kulkarni. Sagarika who has received the screen award for best supporting actress for 'Chak De India' has also received the Lions Gold Award. This girl from a majestic family wants to create her niche here, in the Hindi film industry.
