Handsome Hunk Salman Khan is a renowned Bollywood Actor. Moody yet funny at times, Salman enjoys the biggest fan following among the three Khans of Bollywood. It is said that Salman's fans go to the theatre to see Salman and not the movie. But it is not a mere overnight fame. Salman has struggled too much to come this far.
Salman Khan was born on 27th December 1965 to Ace Writer Salim Khan and his first wife Salma (aka Sushila Charak) Khan. He has two younger brothers Actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and two sisters Alvira and Arpita. Alvira is the wife of Actor turned Director Atul Agnihotri. Salman has done his schooling from The Scindia School, Gwalior and St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra in Mumbai. Actress Helen is his stepmom. Salman Debuted in 'Biwi Ho to Aisi' (1998) in a supporting role. He appeared first time in a lead role in Rajshri Production's blockbuster romance 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989). Salman was very lean when came into the industry. In 'Maine Pyar Kiya' he literally wore two pants one upon another to look a bit healthier. After that to make himself look camera friendly, he started building up his body after taking some advice from Actor Dharmendra. And today he gives fitness tips to others. He actually started the trend of Bodybuilding among Bollywood actors. Salman's Next Hit was 'Baaghi'. After which he gave back to back four hits in 1991 like 'Patthar Ke Phool', 'Sanam Bewafa', 'Kurbaan' and 'Saajan'. But then he had a hard luck for couple of next years. He bounced back in the second fix-up with Sooraj Barjatya in 'Hum Aapke Hai Kaun'. It became one of the biggest Hindi Movies ever. Salman was well applauded for his supporting roles in 'Andaz Apna Apna' (1994) and Rakesh Roshan's 'Karan Arjun' (1995), a big commercial success. 'Jeet' (1996), 'Judwaa' (1997) were well received. He featured in two highest grossing movie 'Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya' (1998) and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in the same year. He received a Filmafare Award for his Extended Cameo in the later movie. In 1999 he starred in back to back hits 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', 'Biwi No.1' and 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. By now, Salman was in the news for quite some time for his case for killing an antelope in Rajasthan, for his drink and drive, hit and run case in the last decade which affected his image in public. From 2000, all his movies flopped. A time came when many heroines denied working with Salman due to which in 'Tere Naam' 2003 movie he starred opposite a new face Bhumika Chawla. 'Tere Naam' proved a great commercial and critical success and was Salman's come back. After it, Salman appeared in successful comedies like 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'No Entry'. In 2007, he appeared in 'Partner' along with Govinda. After it he also appeared in Hollywood movie 'Marigold'. He hosted the High TRP television show 'Dus Ka Dum'. In 2009 he starred in Blockbuster 'Wanted' directed by Prabhu Deva. After which he continued to give consecutive hit every year viz, 'Dabangg' (2010), 'Ready (2011), 'Bodyguard' (2011), 'Ek Tha Tiger' (2012) and 'Dabangg 2' in 2012. Salman is also a big brand himself when it comes to endorse products. He has endorsed a number of brands like Hero Honda, Sangini Jewellery, Revital, Paragon slippers etc. Salman has reportedly dated Actress Sangeeta Bijlani, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif. At the age of 46 he continues to be the most eligible bachelor of India. Salman started 'Being Human' an NGO which sells T-shirts and other products and donate a part of the profit to underprivileged children in the way of education and Healthcare. This has probably improved Salman's image in the media.
