Sammir Dattani Biography

Sammir Dattani , a good looking Gujarati lad is famous for his chocolate boy looks and cute smile. Girls went crazy over him when first time he was seen in a television commercial. He was born in a Gujarati family on 27th January 1982 in Mumbai. He was brought up in Mumbai. Sammir went to Greenlawns for his school education and then did his graduation from H.R. College. Very few people know that Sammir is an excellent roller skater and was a national level roller skater before turning to acting. He won many awards at the all India level. Sammir's family is into the textiles business for over 50 years. Besides acting, Sammir owns a Chinese restaurant and lounge at Kala Ghoda in Mumbai.

Sammir has been working in front of the camera since the tender age of 17. He was a popular television commercial artist and was seen in many music videos as well. His most famous music video is 'Valentine's Day'.

Sammir commenced his journey in Bollywood with Rajshri Productions Pvt. Ltd.' film ' Uuf Kya Jaadoo Mohabbat Hai..!'. Sammir's performance in this movie was appreciated. He became a known face in the industry which landed him up in the films like 'Corporate' by Madhur Bhandarkar, 'Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee' by Vikram Bhatt and 'Pyaar Mein Twist'.

Later, Sammir ventured into Kannada film industry. Most of his Kannada films were super hits. He is known by the name Dhyaan in Kannada film industry. His some of the Kannada films have been dubbed in Telugu and they became hits in Telugu as well. His debut Kannada film is 'Nanna Preethiya Hudugi'. The film reached at the silver jubilee at the box office. It brought him the best debutante award in the South. He gave hits like 'Monalisa' ,'Amruthadhare' etc in Kannada.

Sammir was seen next Hindi in 'Mukhbiir'. He played the undercover police officer in the movie. The movie was directed by Mani Shankar and has many senior actors in it. He was also seen in Wilson Louis's movie 'Mallika'. The film won him rave reviews for his performance. Sammir has tried his luck in Tamil films as well. His Tamil film 'Kutty' is famous in the down south.

Sammir was selected by Shyam Benegal in his film 'Well Done Abba' in 2010 with Minissha Lamba and Boman Irani. The film was well received by the critics and gained lots of praise for Sammir as he gave an amazing performance in that film. After this, Sammir made an appearance in Punit Malhotra's 'I Hate Luv Storys' alongside Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan. The film was also a hit.

Sammir who is currently busy with his south Indian projects got engaged to his long time love Ritika in 2011.
