Sanjay Khan, alias Tipu Sultan was born as Abbas, on 3rd Jan 1941 in Bangalore. With a modest height of 5 feet and 7 inches he was quite popular amongst women in his heyday.
Bollywood and TV Appearances
Sanjay made his Bollywood debut in Haqeeqat (1964).
After a trivial role in his first movie he appeared in the superhit Dosti (1964).
In 1969 he played the lead role in the family drama Ek Phool Do Mali.
In 1971 he was cast in Mela with his brother Feroz Khan and Mumtaz.
He played an advocate in B R Chopra's thriller Dhund (1973).
Sanjay was coupled with Parveen Babi in the 1977 thriller Chandi Sona.
In 1980 he was seen in Abdullah, a movie with a massive star cast, like Raj Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Danny and more.
He then starred in the much acclaimed Kala Dhanda Goray Log (1986).
In 1989 Sanjay played the fabled Tipu Sultan in the TV series The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Though this was the last role of his career, he is remembered for this the most.
As a Director, Writer and Producer
Sanjay Directed a TV series titled Maha Kavya Mahabharat (2001). He was the Director of Kala Dhanda Goray Log, Abdullah and Chandi Sona, in which he acted as well.
He Produced Abdullah and Chandi Sona and worte the story of Kala Dhanda Goray Log.
Life outside the silver screen
Sanjay has 3 brothers- Feroze (actor), Akbar (actor) and Sameer (businessman). He is married to Zarine, and has 3 daughters with her, Farha (jewelry designer. Married), Simone (married), Suzanne (married to Hritik Roshan) and 1 son, Zayed Khan (actor. Married).
