Coming from a family full of actors, acting is second nature to Sharman Joshi and funny could be his middle name. He is best thought of in his role as Sukhi in 'Rang De Basanti' or Raju Rastogi from '3 Idiots'. Sharman was born on 17th March 1979 in Mumbai. His father is a prominent Gujarati theatre actor Arvind Joshi. His mother also is a famous Gujarati theatre artist. Sarita Joshi, famous Gujarati theatre persona is his aunt. His sister and cousins are actively involved in Marathi and Gujarati theatre as well. Sharman hails from a Gujarati Brahmin family. His sister Mansi Joshi is a famous television artist. She is married to famous actor Rohit Roy. Sharman has studied at Institute Of Business Administration from Karachi. He holds a degree of MBA. Sharman Joshi is married to Prerna Chopra, who is a daughter of legendary actor Prem Chopra. Sharman and Prerna have a daughter named Khyana and twin boys named Rehan and Varryan.

Sharman played a role of a deaf guy in Gujarati version of the popular play 'All The Best' which completed its successful 550 shows in three years. He marked his silver screen debut with the art film 'Godmother' in 1999. He played the lead role in N Chandra's flick 'Style' in 2001. The film was followed by its sequel 'Excuse Me' in 2003. He again appeared in a comic caper 'Shaadi No. 1' in 2005. He was also seen in a small role in a women centric film 'Lajja' as Rekha's son.

He got famous when he essayed a character named Sukhi in Aamir Khan's 'Rang De Basanti'. His next hit film was 'Golmaal' which was a multistarer film. He has got the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for 'Golmaal' . He was next seen in multi starer films like 'Life in a Metro' , 'Raqeeb' and 'Dhol'. He played the character Shyam in the film 'Hello' in 2008. The film was based on famous author Chetan Bhagat's novel, One Night @ The Call Centre . He was also seen in the 2008 flick 'Sorry Bhai'. May we call it a co-incidence , but Sharman's most of the films are multi starrers. He got a very less chance to play a solo lead in his films. Sharman Joshi was a game show presenter at Real TV show called PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha, which was based on a British game show called PokerFace in 2009. He is noted for his free & naturalistic style of acting. His performance was praised for being outgoing & exceptionally genuine.

Sharman's most successful film is Rajkumar Hirani's '3 Idiots' which was based on Chetan Bhagat's novel 'Five Point Someone'. He played the character named Raju Rastogi in this film. The baby faced actor was nominated at the Filmfare awards for the best supporting actor for his performance in '3 Idiots'. He has sung one song 'Give Me Some Sunshine' in this film. In 2010, the good looking guy was seen in the films 'Toh Baat Pakki' and 'Allah Ke Bande'. In 2012, he played a loving father in 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'. The same year, Sharman was seen in '3 Bachelors'.

The talented actor will be seen next in 'War Chod Na Yaar' along with Soha Ali Khan.
