Shriya Saran, a girl with simple girl next door looks we see in many regional films. She has created herself a strong position in a short span of her career by giving outstanding performances in various films. She has big credits in her kitty like 'Sivaji : The Boss' with the legendary Rajinikanth.
Shriya was born on 11th September 1982 in Dehradun. Her father is Pushpendra Saran and her mother is Neeraja Saran. Her father is an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and her mother is a chemistry teacher at Delhi Public School. Shriya has an elder brother Abhiroop. She went to Delhi Public School and then studied at Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. She spent her childhood days in Haridwar and Delhi. She has a bachelors degree in English Literature. Shriya is a very good dancer. She is a trained dancer of Kathak and Rajasthani folk dance. Initially her mother used to train her in Kathak. But later she learnt Kathak from Shovana Narayan.
Shriya debuted with a Telugu movie named 'Ishtam' in 2001. But her first box office success is Santosham in 2002. Since then she never looked back and built a strong career in the regional films. She has worked in various Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films over the years. She has also featured in some Hindi films like 'Awarapan', 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', 'Mission Istaanbul' etc. Shriya has worked in some English films like 'The Other End Of The Line' and 'Cooking With Stella'. Her performance in both the films was very well appreciated. Some of her Hindi films are 'Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum' ,'Shukriya' ,'Baabul' ,'Ek The Power Of One', 'Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke', 'Gali Gali Chor Hai' etc. Recently she was seen in a multistarer 'Zila Ghaziabad' and Deepa Mehta's 'Midnight's Children'.
The beautiful and talented actress has endorsed brands like Pond's, Fair & Lovely, Head & Shoulders, Mc Vitie's, Coca Cola and Lux. She has lots of upcoming south Indian projects and in Hindi she will be seen opposite Jimmy Shergill in an untitled film. Shriya is involved with many humanitarian activities and NGOs. She has opened a Spa which has the visually challenged employees.
