Shweta Prasad Biography

She began her career as a child artist in television serials and films. As an actress, Shweta Prasad appears in lead roles in Telugu movies. She is the famous child artist face that viewers seen in the film 'Makdee'. Her excellent performance in that movie made her win National Film Award for Best Child Artist category.

Shweta was born on 11th January, 1990 in Jharkhand. She was much younger when her family moved to Mumbai. Her father Anuj hails from Bihar and her mother Sarmishta is originally from West Bengal. Theatre is from where Shweta entered in the acting field. Shweta was the student of R. N. Podar High School in Mumbai. The actress studied Commerce there. Her screen name - Shweta Basu Prasad consists of her mother's maiden name too.

At the age of eleven, Shweta was seen in a prominent role in the film 'Makdee'. The young actress played dual roles in it; Chunni and Munni. Vishal Bhardwaj was the director of this film. She won Star Screen Award for Best Child Artist for this film. 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' on Star Plus was the TV serial in which Shweta acted as a child artist. She essayed the role of Shruti in the series. She also acted in another television serial called 'Karishma Kaa Karishma'. Some more soap operas performed by Shweta include 'C.I.D', 'Kutumb', 'Baat Ban Jaye', 'The Magic Make-Up Box' and 'Agnichakra'.

In the year 2005, Shweta Prasad featured in the hit movie 'Iqbal'. This role achieved her plenty of movie offers. It also gained Shweta many accolades including 5th Karachi international Film Festival endowed her Best Supporting Actress Award. She also won Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress and Zee Cine Award - Critics' Choice Best Actress. The next year 2006 saw her starring in 'Darna Zaroori Hai' by Ram Gopal Varma. She played the role of Ashu in the film. Telugu cinema welcomed Shweta in 2008 with the film 'Kotha Bangaru Lokam', in which she played a lead role. The movie witnessed big success at box-office.

The Telugu movies in which Shweta Prasad starred in are 'Ride', 'Kasko', 'Kalavar King', 'Priyudu', 'Ding Dong Bell', 'Nuvvekkadunte Nenakkadunta', 'Yuganiki Okka Premikudu' and 'Genius'. At present, Shweta is preparing for her two upcoming Telugu flicks titled 'Vijetha' and 'Punnami Ratri 3D'.
